I am
a practicing mixed media fibre artist, using a whole range of
different techniques: drawing, painting, printmaking (silkscreen,
block, collagraph, heat transfer), encaustic and machine and hand
stitching, including found objects. These techniques are the tools,
which allow me to build up the layers of my compositions. I am
particularly interested in transparencies and tactile qualities of
surfaces, and therefore in the interaction of different materials.
In
general, my work explores landscapes as natural habitats of all
kinds of life. My perception of life’s multilayered complexity is
reflected in my work process. Working in layer upon layer (using
different techniques and materials) I explore and try to express the
intensity of interactions in a co-existence of animated and
inanimate objects. By including found objects I give an additional
accent to the depth of the final piece. My art work consists of
mainly wall hangings.
The
development of my body of work is based mainly on trips to remote
areas. Outdoor paintings, sketches, photographs, diaries, including
a collection of found objects, are the resource for my work back in
my studio, where I do some additional reading and research about the
topic.
Recently I find myself more and more involved in environmental
issues.
