Go Figure -an exhibition of Figurative works
March 10 - March 25

|
|
The human
figure has been interpreted by artists since before recorded
history. In this exhibition we will explore a range of figurative
work presented by our gallery artists and several invited guests.
Work will vary from emotionally charged portraits by Heather Horton
to more abstract explorations of the body by Lila Lewis Irving. The
figure is sometimes placed in a narrative setting as in the work of
David Blackwood and Ian Roberts and sometimes, as in the work of
Paul Knowles and Shirray Langley, the figure is shown from behind or
with vague featureless faces, offering us the opportunity to
interpret and compose our own narrative. Ron Eady uses layers of
encaustic for his contemporary ‘wicker’ figures.
The
exhibition will also feature sculpture – new sand-cast bronze images
by Gabrielle Horvath and figures carved from stone by Mary Ellen
Farrow among others.
The opening
reception will be held on Saturday March 10 from 2-5 pm and the
exhibition continues until March 25.
